Skirtings have long been an important decorative element in the home since they protect the bottom of the wall in an aesthetic way. They must therefore be placed correctly on the wall in order to obtain a perfect finish. Previously, it was difficult to install baseboards. Today, this is no longer the case thanks to the clipping system offered by the manufacturers of baseboards. Here are the steps to follow to perfectly install skirting boards on your wall. Placing skirting boards: the material

You will need: - plinths, - clips supplied with dowels and screws, - glue, - finishing sticker, - possibly finishing corners. Regarding the tools, you will need: - a meter and a pencil for locating, - a back saw with a miter box and a workbench for cutting plinths, - a drill , - a screwdriver, - a hammer.

Installing a clip-on plinth: the steps

1) Cutting the plinths First of all, you need to prepare the installation by observing your room and choosing either the bias cut, that is to say cut the edges of the plinth at an angle, or the straight cut. If you opt for the bias cut, you must then clearly identify the angles of the part (entering or leaving) in order to reproduce the same angle on the plinth. If you decide to make a straight cut, you will need to place finishing corners before installing the baseboards. When cutting the plinths, always saw flat and on the side of the decorated side. For a straight cut, use the right guide of the miter box. For a skew cut, use the 45 ° guide. Change the direction of the plinth in the miter box according to the direction of the cut: right or left. If you choose a straight cut of the plinths, you must first reserve space between the plinth and the wall for an incoming angle in order to place a finishing corner and / or cut flush with the wall for an outgoing angle . Cut the finishing corner at the height of the plinths, then put a finishing sticker on top and stick it in the incoming corner. 2) The installation of clips Start by marking the placement of the clips on the wall: depending on the length of the plinth, they can be 25 or 50 cm apart. For long straight plinths, a gap of 50 cm between the clips is sufficient. Drill the wall at the mark, then place a dowel in the hole. Then you just have to screw the clip. 3) The installation of plinths Take a plinth and place it over the clips. Push it down to insert it correctly into the clips, possibly using a hammer and a wedge.
